Retirement represents a renewed opportunity for you to reach out and embrace exciting new pathways for enjoyment, learning and fulfillment. What else could be more enjoyable than sharing these new pathways and having fun with your fellow educators?
In October 2008 C.E.S., Cooperative Educational Services launched a new program named R.E.-C.E.S. (Retired Educators - Cooperative Educational Services) with the ongoing goal of engaging, involving and supporting retired educators in lower Fairfield County.
R.E.-C.E.S. provides members with new educational opportunities for growth in select areas of personal and professional interest and a vehicle to access educational job positions. Like last year’s program, we are offering retirees specialized workshops usually from 10 am to noon. The 2009-2010 program of workshops include a "cooking demo" in a Victorian House, "naturopathic medicine" by a practitioner in Fairfield, nationally known Life Coach Joyce Cohen on "health & well-being," "managing finances" in these uncertain times and "health care coverage options" for retired educators. We’re also offering a 3-part technology series ("muti-media," "use of the digital camera" & "web-based resources"). When appropriate, CEUs are available. As a member it’s your choice to take part and have fun in as many as you want!
Beyond our specialized workshops, R.E.-C.E.S. members are able to access our new webpage providing up-to-date information in more detail including on-line registration. Go to www.ces.k12.ct.us. Click on 2nd blue tab - Professional Development Services/Scroll down to R.E.-C.E.S. On the webpage members can also access a JOB BANK with full and part-time positions in the local area. The annual RE-C.E.S. membership remains unchanged at $25.
Each fall we have a Kick-Off Buffet Luncheon celebration at C.E.S. with raffle prizes. This year we had Gary Webster as the speaker who showed how the new Flip video camera (the size of an iPod) can be your best friend. Attending workshops and bringing a friend is how we grow!
